Upcycled Products – Repurpose with Purpose

At MaCher, we focus on all things sustainable. As a certified B Corporation, it’s truly part of our ethos. It’s been exciting lately to see all of the really cool concepts around upcycled products. If you’re not familiar with the term, upcycling refers to converting old or discarded materials into something useful and often beautiful.
We’re seen a huge trend lately in upcycled products. Here’s a fellow B Corp called Loopworks that has partnered with Southwest Airlines to upcycle the material from old airline seats into bags and accessories. The seat covers were transformed into a line of duffel bags, handbags, totes and backpacks.
  • The Inspiration:The amazing adventures of travelers everywhere
  • The Goal: Repurposing Southwest Airlines seats into distinctive bags that enable further journeys
  • The Construction: Handmade in the Pacific Northwest
  • The Process: We partnered with a non-profit to employ disabled adults to deconstruct and clean the repurposed material
  • The Result: Limited edition, hand numbered awesomeness for your next adventure
  • The Impact: More than 4,000 gallons of water conserved per bag and a 72% reduction in CO2 emissions
  • EXCLUSIVE PRE-ORDER NOW OPEN: Please allow 5 to 7 weeks delivery for the Tote & Duffle and 6-8 weeks for the Backpack.

At a recent wine industry trade show, a designer who stopped by our booth referred me to her good friends Ethan and Tim who founded Reclamation Etchworks. Ethan and Tim are former bartenders who started an ingenious business of upcycling wine and spirits bottles into customized products for restaurants and individual consumers.
